Hari Balakrishnan is the Fujitsu Professor of Computer Science at MIT and the founder and CTO of Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT), a company that develops mobile sensing / IoT technologies and data analytics to change driver behavior and make roads safer. The CMT team, under his technical and strategic leadership, has deployed pioneering behavior-based insurance programs in 14 countries around the world, and was recently named the #1 smartphone-based telematics service provider. Before CMT, Balakrishnan co-founded StreamBase (acquired by TIBCO) and was a founding advisor to Meraki Networks (acquired by Cisco). He is one of the most-cited authors in computer science with several best paper awards, received the 1998 ACM doctoral dissertation award, and in 2015 was elected to the US National Academy of Engineering.
