Mr. Yonald Chery has over 25 years experience as a high-tech entrepreneur, innovator, senior executive, inventor, investor, & mentor in both the private-sector and government. Mr Chery is the Chief Technology Officer of DataTribe, a new start-up studio located in Fulton, Maryland investing in elite talent and teamsfocused on delivering game-changing solutions to cyber-security, “big data”, and analytics challenges. He returns to the private-sector, after spending 7 years working for the U.S. Department of Defense, most recently serving as a Senior Executive Technical Director driving solutions at the complex intersection of government, innovation, technology, and national security.
Mr. Chery’s career as an entrepreneur started while he was a doctoral candidate in Electrical Engineering at MIT. Inspired by teaching 6.111 Introductory Digital System Laboratory, he co-founded Virtual Ink (Mimio) and his team won 1st runner-up in the MIT $100k Entrepreneurship Competition in 1997. He has been a recurring guest-lecturer for MIT’s Nuts & Bolts of New Ventures sharing his experiences with the MIT community since 2001. Over the years he has advised hundreds of other entrepreneurs and startup ventures in the Boston and Washington DC start-up community.
Mr. Chery currently holds 10 patents in the United States, 4 patents in the United Kingdom. He has a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering (S.B. EE) and a Masters in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (S.M. EECS), both from MIT, and has a (not so) funny story about when he came back to try and finish his PhD.
His ambition is to complete his transition from being a serial entrepreneur to parallel entrepreneur.
